Ask Amy: Am I selfish to demand that my husband change his ways?

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 10:56:00 GMT

Dear Amy: I am 54 years old and have been married to my (second) husband for 25 years. My husband drinks at least six beers every evening. He gets up by 6 a.m. and goes to work and will work all day without any issues (to my knowledge). He does, however, start drinking by 4:30 or 5 p.m. and will drink until he goes to bed,  between 9 to 10 p.m.I have asked him to stop, and he flat-out said no. I asked him to cut back. He did for a while but now is drinking every evening again.I have an extremely long work commute, so I go to bed early and get up by 4:30 a.m.We have not been intimate or even cuddled in years. I have told him this bothers me, but he says it’s all my fault. I love him so much and he still gives me butterflies (I’ve told him this).Nothing – and I mean nothing – has worked.I can’t imagine my life without him, but I also can’t live my life like this.Is this selfish? I mean, we did say “for better or for worse.” I just need someone to spell it out, even if it is not what I w...

New York (CNN) — Perdue — yes, the poultry company — is getting into the beer business. Sort of.For the first time ever, Perdue is selling a 12.5-ounce can of beer that’s specifically made for “beer can chicken” in time for the summer grilling season.Appropriately titled “Beer Can Chicken Beer,” the limited-edition brew is a honey double-citrus summer ale that’s brewed with “classic grilled chicken seasonings like rosemary, thyme and pink peppercorn.” The $14.99 six-packs will be sold online only beginning May 22.“Beer can chicken has long been one of the most popular methods of grilling poultry, but we noticed a lack of consensus on what type of beer is best,” said Julie Lehman, Perdue’s vice president of marketing, in a press release. (For those who haven’t made it, beer can chicken involves sticking a can of opened beer into an upright chicken and grilling it indirectly on a grill or smoker.)To make the beer, which is also for just plain drinking, Perdue partnered with Manhattan-...

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 10:56:00 GMT

It was the site of fierce battles during World War II, and with a population of nearly 10 million people, it’s the most populous Pacific Island nation. The State Department said the new agreement provides a framework to help improve security cooperation, enhance the capacity of Papua New Guinea’s defense force and increase regional stability. The full agreement will be made public once politicians in both countries have an opportunity for input, likely in a couple of months. At a breakfast meeting, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape said his country faces significant security challenges, from skirmishes within the country to illegal fishing boats that light up the night like skyscrapers. “We have our i...
