NASA has unveiled an extraordinary opportunity for education and community organizations — the chance to receive a tangible piece of space exploration history. As part of the Artemis I mission conducted in late 2022, tree seeds journeyed around the Moon and are now being distributed as seedlings to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) engagement. These unique seedlings, known as Artemis Moon Trees, were derived from five different species including sycamores, sweetgums, Douglas-firs, loblolly pines, and giant sequoias. Their journey spanned 40,000 miles beyond the Moon on NASA’s Artemis I mission, encapsulating the spirit of exploration. Approximately 2,000 seeds were transported to space as part of this endeavor.NASA has partnered with the USDA Forest Service to administer the distribution of these seedlings to various organizations. According to three people familiar with the U.K.’s plans for the AI summit, the Rishi Sunak administration is determined to involve the Chinese government in some form — despite resistance from Japan, the United States and the European Union.“If you were a betting man I reckon you’d see China there in some capacity,” said a U.K. government official familiar with planning for the summit. They were granted anonymity to speak candidly.Officials in Westminster have been racking their brains for months on how to involve the Chinese without upsetting key allies. Any invite to Beijing also risks enraging the vocal tribe of Tory backbenchers who have been pushing the U....

By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER (AP Economics Writer)JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming (AP) — The continued strength of the U.S. economy could require further interest rate increases, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Friday in a closely watched speech that also highlighted the uncertain nature of the economic outlook. Powell noted that the economy has been growing faster than expected and that consumers have kept spending briskly — trends that could keep inflation pressures high. He also reiterated the Fed’s determination to keep its key rate elevated until price increases are reduced to the central bank’s 2% target. “We are attentive to signs that the economy may not be cooling as expected,” the Fed chair said. “We are prepared to raise rates further if appropriate and intend to hold policy at a restrictive level until we are confident that inflation is moving sustainably down toward our objective.” His speech — at an annual conference of ce...
