Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:37:08 GMT

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Adidas said Friday that it is releasing a second batch of high-end Yeezy sneakers after cutting ties with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, as the German sportswear brand seeks to unload the unsold shoes while donating to groups fighting antisemitism. The online sale, to start Wednesday through Adidas smartphone apps and its website, follows an earlier set of sales in May. Models that will be available include the Yeezy Boost 350 V2, 500, and 700 as well as the Yeezy Slide and Foam RNR.The company cut ties with Ye in October after he made antisemitic and other offensive remarks online and in interviews. That left Adidas holding 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) worth of unsold Yeezys and searching for a responsible way to dispose of them.Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden said in May that selling the popular sneakers and donating some of the profits was the best solution to deal with the unsold inventory and make a difference. It's just there."Pascuzzo has run Pepco Studio, his independent freelance design studio, for the last 20 years, but he says his first graphic design job out of college was where he met Biz Stone, one of the three Twitter co-founders."We were both junior designers, so we were lowest on the rank, but he would just after every subway ride have all these wild ideas and we would just talk about them. I would do these little doodles on Post-it notes, and he just liked my drawings," Pascuzzo recollects to NEWS10's Mikhaela Singleton. He says Stone appro...

How wildfires are threatening Colorado water supplies — and costing lots of money

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:37:08 GMT

The Colorado River this spring ran high, fast and so full of sediment pushed downstream from wildfire burn scars that the water treatment plant in Hot Sulphur Springs couldn’t keep up.The sediment repeatedly clogged the town’s intake valves, forcing town leaders to issue an emergency order in April and call for residents to voluntarily cut back on water use.“It was pretty much to the breaking point,” said Nick Rardin, water operator with the town. The 700-person town 30 miles northwest of Winter Park is the most recent Colorado community to deal with impacts to water supplies due to wildfires. As wildfires become larger and more catastrophic across the drying West, water leaders warn communities must prepare for the eventual impact on the critical watersheds that provide the water flowing from Colorado taps.“We need to figure out what strategies we need to be more resilient in the face of these fires – they’re not going to stop happening,” said Esther Vi...
